Kopepeantara
A non-profit organization that offers
educational support to remote island communities in Indonesia. Based in
Kaledupa, one of a small group of islands in South-East Sulawesi, we
help communities to set up small, village-level projects to provide
books, learning resources and informal education programs. Their mission
is to ensure that every child has access to basic learning resources, in
particular books and writing materials. Books really are the windows to
the world, especially in villages with no newspapers, phones or
internet!

Operation Wallacea Trust
The Operation
Wallacea Trust was established in order to support
activities that could directly contribute towards the
conservation of biodiversity in the areas in which
Operation Wallacea is working. The Charity, which is
entirely independent of Operation Wallacea, is chaired
by the Rt. Hon Kenneth Clarke QC MP and has Trustees
drawn from academia and industry. The principle
underlying the Trust's approach to projects is that the
best way to ensure conservation of forests and reefs is
to make sure the communities surrounding the areas to be
protected have a financial advantage in ensuring its
preservation. Within the Wakatobi the Operation Wallacea
Trust has been involved with numerous fisheries and
conservation initiatives. |
